SAICA AGM, Accounting History
Notice is hereby given that a special general meeting of members of the Institute will be held at The Castle (The Bailey's Room), 66 Pine Road, Kyalami, Midrand, Johannesburg on 31 May 2012 at 09h30 or immediately following the completion of the annual general meeting of the Institute which has been called to be held at 09h00 on that day (whichever is the later) for the purpose of considering and, if deemed fit, of passing, with or without modification, a resolution to amend the Constitution.
The purpose of the meeting would be the consideration and passing of a resolution amending the Constitution. The proposed amendments to the Constitution largely relate to changes in terminology and the composition of the SAICA Board.
Due and proper notice will be provided of the aforementioned meeting via the following means:
1) Electronic mail if you are registered on our database as a member capable of accepting communications from SAICA in this manner.
2) SAICA website visit www.saica.co.za from 30 April 2012.
Proxy forms will be available on the SAICA website:
www.saica.co.za from 30 April 2012.
A member of the Institute who is entitled to attend and vote at the meeting will be entitled to appoint a proxy to attend, speak in his/her stead.

The Annual General Meeting of members of The South African Institute of Chartered Accountants (SAICA) will be held in Gauteng at the The Castle Kyalami, 66 Pine Road, Kyalami (in The Bailey's Room), on 31 May 2012 at 09h00.
The following business will be transacted:
The consideration of the Annual Financial Statements of the Institute for the year ended 31 December 2011.
The consideration of a report by the Chief Executive Officer.
The consideration of a report by the auditors.
The reappointment of KPMG as the auditors.
Due and proper notice will be provided of the aforementioned meeting via the following means:

SUBMISSIONS REQUESTED
SAICA is currently working with the University of Johannesburg to produce a History of the Chartered Accountancy Profession. The Editorial Committee is hereby requesting all SAICA members to share your stories, anecdotes and memories about the profession with us to be included in the History. Nice read, explains a lot. So in a nutshell, you are saying that a voluntary retrenchment is still a retrenchment and the severance received will be taxed as per the R 315K?
