The Targets
Why it matters:
1 in 9 people around the world fall into the category of undernourishment – the vast majority of which live in developing countries. Severe malnutrition affects around 52 million children worldwide and contributes to nearly half (45%) of deaths in children under five (3.1 million children a year). Chronic malnutrition, which affects an estimated 155 million children, impedes children’s mental and physical development and puts them at a greater risk of death, disease, and lack of success as adults.
