August is women’s month – a time to celebrate fierce and fantastic South African females who rise above and achieve greatness in the face of everything that may count against them.
In the powerful words of author Nakeia Homer: ‘Behind every strong woman is a story that gave her no other choice.’ A really strong woman accepts the war she went through and is ennobled by her scars.
Over the last 100 years, the role and rights of women have changed beyond all recognition. But one thing that has stayed constant is the sheer number of awe-inspiring women all over the world.
Inspiring women lead by example. They help to create a thriving society where equality duly prevails. These women are going further, doing more, breaking through barriers, and giving others courage. Their lives and their work share their important message of female empowerment. They are working tirelessly for the greater good and creating history in their own right. These women are playing their part to reinvent our society, our culture, and our world.
Women today are unstoppable, and their power and influence is rising. Increasingly women demand a new society, a society that gives them choices – they can choose to do anything, be anything, and women are building the systems that enable them to do that.
These women are motivating others around them, breaking the glass ceiling and paving their own paths − all while lifting up others around them and setting the example for the next generation of female leaders.
