As the impact of Covid-19 is felt across every corner of the globe, both our country as well as our profession have not been spared. SAICA has taken multiple precautionary m to ensure the safety of our staff as well as our members while continuing to serve our profession and support our members.
As part of that support to members, we acknowledge your indication that you and/or your business have been directly impacted by Covid-19 and your request for financial relief in respect of your outstanding 2020 annual membership fee. We therefore offer the following relief to affected members who have experienced a loss of income during this period:
- A reduction in the outstanding membership fee currently overdue to SAICA
- A further three-month payment extended payment plan of the reduced amount. To be extended no later than 30 October 2020. This is over and above the current seven month allowance (as fees were due in January 2020)
- Waiving of 2020 late payment penalties. SAICA has decided to waive the charge of late payment penalties for the 2020 membership year.
In order to take up this assistance, members who have experienced a loss of income during this period are required to submit:
- Self-employed members: 3 months bank accounts; financial reports with relevant information like sales reports; turnover management accounts or any relevant information validating that your business has been affected.
- Currently employed members: Confirmation from your employer indicating loss of income on a valid company letterhead.
- Previously employed members: Members who have lost employment as a result of Covi-19 must supply confirmation of termination of employment from their previous employer.
Applications will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis. Please note the following in connection to consideration of applications:
- Was your membership account in order prior to the declaration of the national disaster on the 22nd March 2020,
- The concession/relief application is limited to the 2020 Annual membership subscription fee and no other prior outstanding charges will be waived/reduced,
- All prior late payment penalties are in arrears and must be paid up to date in order for the covid19 relief to be awarded,
- Applications not accompanied by relevant supporting documentation will automatically be declined, and
- Any extension/reduction/waiver granted will only be applicable to the 2020 Membership fee and year and no 2020 debt may be carried into 2021.
