ASA August Issue, Women’s Month 2025
Editorial
Women’s month is one of my favourite issues! Not only because it’s one of the very first issues I wrote for when my journey with Accountancy SA began, but it’s always a powerful reminder of how one woman’s story can inspire another to keep moving forward and achieve great things in this world.
A quote that has stood out for me a woman and that instantly ignites within my mind as I write this is:
‘Because she competes with no one,
no one can compete with her’
Each woman possesses her own unique personality, strengths, inner challenges and struggles – and triumphs. It makes you, YOU! No one knows what it has taken for you to be where you are today. The journey that has led you to where you find yourself today, is a story to tell and to be proud of. And this month we celebrate your story.
Each woman has been endowed with unique gifts to give to the world that only she can give, and we should never measure or compare ourselves or what we have to offer to another woman. We are all running a race of our own. The more we embrace ourselves, the more we will blossom like beautiful swans into who we are meant to be, and the more we can confidently share our unique gifts with others and help them to transform into the best version of themselves.
Sadly, today too many women find themselves comparing themselves to other women, from appearances, career success, marital status, families and homes. Comparison is the thief of joy. Let us celebrate who we are. Let us celebrate the women around us.
This month we have the privilege to celebrate six wonderful women on the cover: Mpolaheng Mohlopi, Kgaugelo Moima, Romy Maree, Aneshree Naidoo, Ciara Reinjies and Patricia Malahlela. Each of these women have incredible and unique stories to share that will inspire you to continue the journey you’re on. As you flip through the pages there is Phumla Molope, Tumi Mokgogo, Salma Naby, Zimkita Mabindla, Paballo Phiri, Thina Tembani and Nadine Hurwitz.
There are special women today who have helped you on your journey. Let’s celebrate them. Buy a little gift with a card or just meet up for coffee and cake to say thank you for the value they’ve added to your life.
And don’t forget to spoil yourself. You definitely deserve it!
