To enter a trainee contract as a prospective CA(SA) is rigorous and not for the faint-hearted. It has taken long hours, mental anguish and tears to get this far!
To ride on a mountain bike from Cairo to Cape Town will take blood, sweat and tears. Some will even say it is madness.
What do these diverse activities have in common, you ask? – Commitment and dedication.
SAICA is sponsoring actor and long-distance cyclist Ivan Zimmerman to cycle from Cairo to Cape Town – Why?

How you sometimes feel like giving up and just let it all go … SAICA and Sage Pastel have teamed up with Ivan Zimmermann, who will also put his endurance and resiliance to the test from 9 January 2015 to 9 May 2015. He is taking part in the Tour d’Afrique and will cycle on a mountain bike from Cairo to Cape Town – covering 12 000 km in four months. Tour d’Afrique has been recognised as the world’s longest and most challenging mountain bike stage adventure.
This will be the 13th edition of the Tour d’Afrique – a test of mind, body, and bicycle that will stretch through ten countries. You will be able to follow every step of Ivan’s journey in real time on www.ivanzimmermann.com. As part of the challenge he aims to collect 12 000 cans of food.
This will be donated to charity on completion. We would like to invite our trainees to motivate Ivan through his journey on SAICA’s social media channels.
Ivan in turn will send motivational messages to trainees and upload photos and videos of his journey on the website. During the journey Ivan will share his ten key leadership lessons during the different stages of the race.
