It is with deep sadness that the South African Institute of Chartered Accountants (SAICA), learned of the passing of its member, Zweli Mabhoza on Thursday, 03 December 2020.
Zweli qualified as a Chartered Accountant (SA) in 1998 and served on numerous SAICA structures over a number of years, making a significant contribution to SAICA in general and the tax profession in particular.
His record of service on SAICA structures, included the Integritax Editorial Panel, the Tax Administration Act Subcommittee and the National Tax Committee, on which he served for nine years. At the time of his passing Zweli was serving as a member of SAICA’s Examinations committee, a position he held since 2010. In addition to serving his profession with pride, Zweli also made a telling contribution to the country. His contribution included serving as a Member of the Tax Court and the Financial Services Board Appeals board.
Zweli’s commitment and passion for serving others was incomparable. He will always be remembered for his humility, sense of humour his brilliant mind. His selfless service to his people will remain as a living legacy even as he is no longer with us.
Zweli will be sorely missed by the many people whose lives he touched and, in particular, those from the structures he interacted with.
SAICA expresses its sincere condolences to his wife, family, friends and colleagues.
May his soul rest in peace.
