This month SAICA’s beautiful CEO Patricia Stock, graces the cover of Accountancy SA magazine in her gorgeous heritage attire. Sitting in on her interview and hearing her speak about her past journey and future dreams and aspirations for SAICA, one is just once again reassured that the profession is in very good hands.
I once heard a wise man say if you aim at nothing, you can be sure you will hit it. Goals are so important to move forward in life. And as a young woman, Patricia’s goals have always been clear to her − one of them being to become an audit partner by the age of 30. She achieved that, becoming one of the first black female partners at BDO South Africa. A few years later she started her own firm, and so her career evolved going from one success to another to where she is today − becoming the first black female CEO of SAICA.
‘With everything we do in life, when the heart and the mind are aligned, the hand is able to do what is right,’ Patricia says. She is passionate about transformation, and just as passionate about doing it the right way. She also reveals that she has a deep passion for Africa because it has so much potential that has not event been tapped into and is just waiting for us to unlock it. Read the cover story to find out more about the phenomenal woman at the helm of SAICA.
And this month, on 24 September, we celebrate Heritage Month. South Africa’s majestic and diverse landscape mirrors our rich and diverse culture, and it cannot be replicated anywhere else in the world. That is why international tourists flock to South Africa, and so many who emigrate, soon find themselves homesick and returning (or yearning to do so). As South Africans our roots run deep; we love our country and our people. It is the people who are the heartbeat of this country, and so this month let’s celebrate our diversity and our heritage − and each other!
We are indeed a beautiful rainbow nation!
